Tell Me Questions (Asked at the start of the test)

 

 

  1. Tell me how you’d check the brakes are working before starting a journey.
    ➤ Brakes shouldn’t feel spongy or slack. Test them as you set off. Vehicle should not pull to one side.
  2. Tell me where you’d find the information for the recommended tyre pressures and how they should be checked.
    ➤ In the manufacturer’s guide. Use a reliable pressure gauge. Check and adjust pressures when tyres are cold.
  3. Tell me how you make sure your head restraint is correctly adjusted.
    ➤ Rigid part should be at least as high as the eyes or top of ears and close to the back of the head.
  4. Tell me how you’d check the tyres to ensure they have sufficient tread depth.
    ➤ No cuts or bulges. 1.6mm tread depth across the central ¾ of the breadth of the tyre.
  5. Tell me how you’d check that the headlights and tail lights are working.
    ➤ Switch them on and walk around the vehicle.

    ➤ Warning light should illuminate if there’s a fault.
